Our Story

Where flour meets memory. Where coeliacs are never an afterthought.

Carpathia~House began as a quiet rebellion — a search for bread that didn’t betray the coeliac body, nor forget the stories of the Old World.
We weren’t born in a factory. We were shaped on flour-dusted benches, with trembling hands and unwavering intention.

Our founders came from two worlds, united by a shared hunger for honest food:
One, raised in the shadows of European heritage kitchens — where sourdough whispered stories of survival.
The other, raised in Australia, with European culture and cooking all around her — where food was memory, tradition, and love.

Together, they saw a gap: a longing for gluten-free food that was safe and soulful.
And so, a house was built. Not of bricks, but of buckwheat, of memory, of ritual. A bakehouse reborn in Sydney, for all who seek nourishment without fear.

From Humble Strudel to Heritage Table

What started as a single Apfelstrudel recipe — adapted, tested, perfected — became something larger.
Loaves rooted in Eastern and Central European tradition. Cakes that could cross generations.
Carpathia~House grew quietly, one bake at a time, through word of mouth, community care, and trust.

We Came Home to Sydney

After seasons on the coast, we returned to Sydney — the heart of New South Wales — where local community meets global connection.
Here, we bake in small batches for those who value heritage, safety, and slow food done right.
